Job Summary:
The College of Engineering is seeking a Digital Marketing Manager. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Digital Marketing Manager (DMM) reports to the Assistant Director of Marketing and is a member of the College of Engineering's External Relations group, which is responsible for the college's marketing, communications, and engagement activities. This position is part of a fast-paced, hands-on team that produces compelling and creative content to help move the college's many stakeholders - alumni, donors, industry partners, state and federal government entities, prospective students, and other engineering schools - toward stronger relationships (i.e., opinion, perception, and affinity) with the college and thereby increasing brand visibility, reputation, and loyalty.

The DMM utilizes specialized technical expertise in user experience, social media, content management systems, marketing automation platforms, information management systems, and customer relationship management systems to plan, create, and distribute high-quality content to advance the college's priorities in recruitment, academic influence, and alumni/donor engagement. Digital channels include but are not limited to electronic newsletters, emails, digital publications, social media, and digital advertising. The DMM may own their work products or contribute to other team members' projects. The DMM also assists in producing social media and web content as assigned. The DMM manages distribution lists, gathers analytics to report on effectiveness of campaigns, and produces templates for digital communications.

Key Responsibilities
40% Digital marketing and communications campaign strategy, creation, distribution, and measurement

  • Develop a digital marketing and communications strategy in collaboration with other members of the marketing team and coordinate and execute digital projects as part of the integrated marketing and communications plan.
  • Develop, implement, and manage digital marketing content for campaigns through channels including but not limited to e-newsletters, emails, digital publications, and digital advertising. Ensure that content is reviewed and approved in accordance with the team's process.
  • Manages relationship with digital marketing vendor of record.
  • Utilize web analytics and other tools to measure and report digital ad engagement and optimize marketing campaigns.
  • Identify trends and insights and execute strategy based on the insights.
  • Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies and plans, execute and measure experiments and conversion tests.
  • Monitor COE online communities to ensure respectful and appropriate engagement and respond to comments as necessary.
  • Work with web development team to create online content necessary for marketing campaigns and projects.
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and report analytics to evaluate and assess the effectiveness of digital communications strategies and projects, and revise strategies accordingly.
  • Develop digital templates for recurring communications.
  • Ensure that all digital communications reflect the college's community, one that embodies collaborative and inclusive excellence, and contribute to Oregon State's equity, diversity, social justice, and anti-racist goals.
  • Compile written and visual content from multiple contributors to create compelling digital communications content.
  • Manage distribution lists, including lists generated from CRM, for all digital communications and keep those lists up to date.


    40% Social media management, content development and implementation:
    • Responsible for content planning and distribution on COE's primary social media platforms, aligning with college's strategic plans and brand guidelines.
    • Independently and in collaboration with External Relations team, develop engaging and compelling social media content to promote brand awareness and drive audience engagement.
    • Recommend and with approval, activate the budget for paid promotion of social content and social advertising.
    • Monitor COE online communities to ensure respectful and appropriate engagement and respond to comments as necessary.
    • Collect, analyze, interpret, and report analytics to evaluate and assess the effectiveness of social media strategies and projects and revise strategies accordingly.
      10% Student content creator management
      • Oversee the COE social media student content creators.
      • Recruit, hire and train student employees. Work to identify which platforms and kinds of content individual students would be best suited for and help train/guide students on best practices.
      • Responsible for signing off on concepts and working with students to finalize and distribute work to OSU's various social networks.
        10% Professional development and other duties as assigned

        What You Will Need
        • Bachelor's degree in digital or new media communications, marketing, or related field.
        • Three years of experience in producing and distributing digital content and measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of that content, or a combination of experience and advanced education that demonstrates comparable background.
        • Excellent writing skills with experience in drafting copy for emails, social media, web and other marketing platforms.
        • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their audiences, and how each platform can be utilized effectively.
        • Experience with CRM-based digital marketing platforms.
        • Demonstrated organizational, project management, and analytical skills.
        • Experience working within brand guidelines.
        • Evidence of successful collaboration with internal team members and external stakeholders.
        • A record of learning about diverse constituents of an organization and its external audiences that demonstrated the ability to translate intelligence into inclusive digital communications that reflect the realities and identities of the constituents/audience.
        • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity

            Working Conditions / Work Schedule
            The majority of this work will take place in a typical office environment, with the occasional need to attend university events on- and off-campus as needs arise for planning and/or content development purposes. Most work can be completed during standard working hours of 8 a.m. -5 p.m., however on-call support may be required at times for issues management and support at evening/weekend events and conferences. A hybrid or remote work agreement may be considered, with the understanding that there will be requirements to be on-site at the Corvallis campus on a regular basis.
