The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University (OSU) invites applications for one or more full-time (1.00 FTE), tenure-track, 9-month Assistant, Associate, or Full professor positions in the Computer Science areas of databases, programming languages, software engineering, and artificial intelligence. Anticipated start date is Fall 2019. Applicants must hold a doctorate degree in Computer Science or closely related field before the first day of employment. The successful candidate is expected to expand, complement, and collaborate with existing research programs in the School, and to perform duties related to teaching, student advising, and professional service. Position Duties 40% Teaching and related duties: Teaching of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Computer Science. 50% Research and scholarly activities: Research, scholarship, mentoring students and management of multidisciplinary research programs. 10% Service: Service to the School, College or University. Participate in regional and national professional service activities. Requirements Minimum/Required: Assistant Professor Applicants must have earned a PhD in Computer Science or other related discipline prior to position start date. Demonstrated ability or significant potential for excellent teaching. Demonstrated ability or significant potential for innovative research. Proven oral and written communication skills. A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. Minimum/Required: Associate or Full Professor: Applicants must have earned a PhD in Computer Science or other related discipline. Demonstrated ability to provide inspiration and leadership in teaching. Demonstrated ability to provide inspiration and leadership in research. Demonstrated ability for attracting the necessary funding to sustain a vigorous research program. Proven oral and written communication skills. A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing the diversity and excellence of the academic community. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU STANDARD 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the Criminal History Check Requirement. Preferred (Special) Qualifications Preferred: Assistant Professor: Postdoctoral and/or industry experience. Preferred: Associate or Full Professor: Ability to build collaborative ties with other departments within the College of Engineering, the University and beyond.
