Schedule: Full Time; Exempt Trillium Family Services is non-profit behavioral health agency providing excellence in care across a continuum of services from residential to community-based settings for youth. The Director of Business Development and Provider Relations is a member of the management team of Trillium Family Services. Responsible for negotiating contract rates with public and private payers, including base rates, performance requirements, and service elements. Identifies potential public and private sector payers and potential new services that appear to be in demand within the marketplace. Works collaboratively with President, CEO, CAO, COO, Sr. VP of Business Development, VP of Business Development, VP of Clinical Infrastructure, VPs of Residential and Community Services, Access Directors, Billing Managers and Medical Directors. Trillium Family Services, Inc. employs over 700 employees and has an annual operating budget of $45 million. Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas: Identifies potential public and private sector payers and potential new services that appear to be in demand within the marketplace Works collaboratively with colleagues (Executive Team and other Trillium leaders) to develop new services and build on existing services Develops and maintains productive relationships with public and private sector payers as well as community partners such as local hospitals, school districts, advocacy groups; Implements marketing activities of the organization in collaboration with the Sr. VP of External Affairs Negotiates contract rates with public and private payers, including base rates, performance requirements, and service elements. Participates in the development and on-going implementation of the corporate strategic plan; Completes all training required for position. Promotes Sanctuary principles within the organization and among direct reports; Professional Requirements: Demonstrated commitment to mental health advocacy within employee's networks and community; serve as an ambassador of the agency by sharing our story, and those of our clients, whenever an opportunity arises. Demonstrated understanding of the functioning of complex organizational, social, and reimbursement systems and how each system's components interact with and impact the others; Demonstrated ability to function in transitional organizations, as an effective leader and productive participant in communication and decision-making processes; Demonstrated understanding of the essential elements of contract negotiation, leverage, and consultative sales; Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of national and state service trends and the underlying funding mechanisms that accompany these service trends; Demonstrated ability to research and analyze new business in the context of these trends; Demonstrated ability to build, foster and deliver strategic business alliances with industry partners and prospects; Demonstrates the ability to communicate potential strategies in terms of opportunities and risks; Demonstrated ability to communicate relevant information to the various levels of the organization including clinicians, program and department management, senior management, and Board of Trustees; Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working and business relationships with internal and external customers; Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively communicate essential elements of contract requirements; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; Demonstrated skills and ability to resolve conflict and to facilitate cooperation and consensual decision making among members of an interdisciplinary team; Demonstrated sensitivity to and respect for different cultural backgrounds and perspectives of co-workers and customers; Demonstrated ability to establish clear and appropriate boundaries in relationships with staff and clients and the handling of confidential and sensitive information. and to train others in these skills; Demonstrated ability to coach, counsel, supervise, consult and evaluate job performance of assigned staff in a timely manner, assuring training is provided when needs are indicated; Demonstrates the ability to ensure assigned staff receive and complete training in a timely manner and training is kept updated as needed; Demonstrates the ability to complete evaluations of assigned staff when due. Education: Master's degree in social services, finance, marketing or business with emphasis in, business administration and contracts strongly preferred Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Maintain a driving record acceptable by the agency and a current driver's license for state of residence, when authorized to use own vehicle for agency business, employee must maintain personal insurance Experience: Five (5) full years of upper level management in business development/finance/operations or a marketing capacity. Three (3) full years of experience in the other functional emphasis. Job Knowledge: Work involves wide diversity of situations, new tasks and assignments of a high degree of complexity. Makes decisions within broad interpretation of applicable laws, accreditation standards and guidelines, governmental guidelines, and organizational policies. Operates independently with minimal supervision. Work is reviewed by the outcome of situations and by meeting with the SR VP of Business Development and Provider Relations, CAO and Medical Directors. Partially accountable for long-range operational and strategic planning.
