Job Summary

Job SummaryAdminister, plan, direct, and evaluate programs and functions of the Behavioral Health Division of the Benton County Health Department in an integrated setting including public health and primary care, under general direction from the Health Department Director. This position is responsible for the coordination, integration, assessment, and quality delivery of person-centered services. Plan and develop high performing innovative systems in an environment of rapid health care transformation. Serve as Behavioral Health Director as identified for Community Mental Health Programming in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 309-014-0020.

Minimum Qualifications
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Behavioral Health, Social, Health, Health Science, Special Education, Public Administration or Human Services Administration; AND
  • 5 years of professional experience in Human Services Programs
    • Two of which are in Community Mental Health; and
    • Two of which are in Program Management in Human Services; and
    • Three of which are managerial or supervisory experience
      • Supervisory experience includes the authority to hire, terminate, assign, reward and discipline other employeesSpecial Requirements
        • Your application must include references that can verify your experience, training, and ability to manage a Community Mental Health Program.
        • A cover letter is required to be submitted with your application. It should be no more than two pages in length and describe your experience related to the minimum qualifications listed above, and experience establishing and maintaining positive, professional, collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external partners, stakeholders and community members.
        • Valid Oregon Driver's License. This position requires driving and may require use of a personal vehicle.
        • Hiring is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
        • Benton County requires all Health Services and Clinic employees to complete their COVID-19 vaccination series or have an approved exception to the requirement due to a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief. Successful candidates for this position must submit vaccination documentation or be approved for an exception prior to their first day of employment.                 Our Health Department has undergone unprecedented growth and improvement in the last several years. The Behavioral Health Division continues to be actively involved in programs, services, and planning for community needs. As the state-assigned Community Mental Health Program, the division provides safety-net services for all Benton County community members.
