Job Description:
:Compensation: $16.80 - $21.00 per hour (depending on
experience)Summary:The Laboratory Assistant II collects and
processes clinical blood and non-blood specimens; dispenses
collection instructions to patients, maintains work area including
records, supplies, equipment and safety; utilizes computer systems
for data storage and retrieval; has working knowledge of ICD10
coding and Medicare compliance regulations.This position provides
support by acting as a resource and trainer for staff to ensure the
quality of specimens collected for lab testing is processed in
accordance to In-house or Reference Lab procedures.This position
will serve as a resource by demonstrating strong communication
skills and a working knowledge in all areas of the lab; demonstrate
working knowledge of all LIS used within the laboratory,
communicate regularly with leads, supervisors, and Med Tech's on
changes in specimen collection, processes, and
problems.Additionally, the Laboratory Assistant II will have the
ability to assist in the other satellite laboratories for
coverage.Responsibilities:1. Will participate and maintain a
culture within The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content
outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Caregiver
Handbook. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have
familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within.2. Collect
and process clinical blood and non-blood specimens. Dispense
collection instructions to patients.3. Follow procedures, policies
and Medicare compliance regulations.4. Maintain work area including
records, supplies equipment and safety.5. Utilize computer systems
for data storage and retrieval.6. Display working knowledge of
ICD10 coding and Medicare compliance regulations.7. Assist with
training and observe students and new staff as requested. The goal
being to maintain an orderly, efficient, and accurate workflow to
reduce or prevent patient recollections incidences.8. Has a
thorough working knowledge of the laboratory information System,
electronic medical records, telephones and Practice Management
systems as it relates to the duties of the various
laboratories.Education, licensure and experience:1. Certification
as a Phlebotomist or equivalent (ASCP, NPA or ASCLS) required.2.
Driver's license, safe driving record and proof of adequate
insurance required.3. Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
certification required.Knowledge and skills:1. Working knowledge of
ICD10 coding, Medicare Compliance regulations and the Laboratory
Information System.2. Ability to work compatibly with physicians,
patients, and other staff.3. Ability to problem solve and work
independently.4. Ability to multitask while staying efficient and
accurate.
