Testing is conducted through National Testing Network (NTN). Salary Information: Firefighter/Paramedic salary range is $4765.76 - $5575.27 effective 7/1/2016 Benefit Information: Firefighter/Paramedic positions are represented by IAFF Local 4196 Medical, Dental and Vision Uniforms and equipment provided Paid vacation and sick leave PERS Post-Employment Health Plan Optional Deferred Compensation HRA/VEBA Plan Life, Accidental Death Insurance Department Information: The Fire District is a full-service emergency service delivery system providing structural and wildland fire suppression ALS and BLS ambulance transport, Fire/EMS training, limited prevention & public education activities as well as other specialized services. Polk County Fire District No. 1 is made up of five staff positions, three shift Captains/Paramedics, six shift Firefighter/Paramedic positions, daytime Firefighter/Paramedic positions, nine resident volunteers and 56 volunteer members (Fire/EMS/Support/Explorers). During 2015, the District answered 2,270 calls for service including 1,686 medical calls and 584 fires and other incidents. County Information: Our community offers a variety of attractions, such as: historical sites, forests, rivers, wineries, an amphitheater, state airpark, museums and many recreational amenities. Wide ranges of cultural and educational opportunities are available from Western Oregon University, which is located in the city of Monmouth. The Fire District provides emergency service protection to Highways 99W, 51, and 223 all primary travel routes into and out of the District. Both Willamette & Pacific Railroad and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad operate regularly through the Fire District. The Independence State Airport is located within the District, offering a 3,000-foot paved and lighted runway, and houses an airpark which includes residential homes and privately owned aircraft hangars. Job Requirements Age: 18 years US Citizen: Yes High School Grad/GED: Yes Valid OREGON State Driver's License: Yes Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes Prior Experience: Possess one year as a Career Firefighter or three years as a Volunteer Firefighter Necessary Certifications: NFPA Firefighter I (or equivalent) upon appointment. NFPA Driver (or equivalent) upon appointment. NFPA Instructor I (or equivalent) prior to completion of probation. Preference Points: Qualified Polk County Fire District No. 1 volunteers and qualified veterans will receive five points added to their final scores.
