JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE Provides executive management and SHS/Samaritan Health Plans with sound legal advice/counsel to maintain tax exemption, protect against claims, facilitate compliance with federal/state regulations and represent interests in transactions, contracts, affiliations, mergers and other business ventures. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Provides oversight and direction for legal issues along with applicable federal/state laws and regulations. This department is responsible for all lines of business in all service locations. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS LLB or JD required. License to practice law in Oregon within one (1) year of hire required. Five (5) years experience providing legal advice/counsel and offering substantive in-depth legal knowledge/expertise in areas such as provider contracts, health plan business operations and managed care compliance required. Experience or training in overpayment, recovery and subrogation, as well as Medicaid and Medicare expertise required. Oregon Medicaid, pharmacy, and clinical experience preferred.
