Description: CHANCE Recovery (Community Helping Addicts
Negotiate Change Effectively) is a non-profit organization that
helps adults recovery from substance abuse and assists with
homelessness. It is awesome! Through grants, county contracts, and
other funding we are able to guide those struggling with addiction
to help them in a variety of ways and place them on a path to
independence and recovery. We use certified Peer Support
Specialists to do this. If you are not a certified Peer Support
Specialist, then we cannot hire you for this position, but we do
offer classes to become one and hope you might have interest! You
would be based out of our Newport office but have opportunities to
be a part of several different programs including jail outreach,
street outreach, county contracts, in addition to serving those
that come to our offices for help. It is a full-time position that
works normal Monday through Friday business hours. Benefits include

bonus! As a Peer Support Specialist you know the impact you can
have others in their journey through your own lived experience and

people in need. You should expect to: Engage with peers and help
assess their needs and collect necessary data.Work with those peers
to set goals and help them achieve them.Act and communicate in a
way that is culturally sensitive and promotes inclusion and equity
for all.Travel to different locations at times for meetings and
services.Serve as an advocate for peers helping them in their goals
to navigate government and other systems to gain access to the
benefits they need.Maintain caseloads of up to 20 peers.Assist with
peer transportation and support at community-based meetings as
needed.Other duties that help support the peer and the

feel fulfilled. We have some requirements to make sure you can
provide everything we promise to our peers:Certified Peer Support
Specialist-- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalentValid drivers
license with record acceptable to our insuranceAbility to use
computers including email and be trained on our databaseAt least 2
