Job Description:

The following applies only to on-call, per diem, and relief positions: On-call, Per diem, and relief employees must be available to work two shifts every month. If the employee turns down two shifts in one month or is not requested to work in a four-month period, the employee will no longer be considered active and employment will be terminated. Summary: The Corvallis Clinic Surgical Center Endoscopy Technician works with the endoscopy team to perform duties and other related procedures as necessary to assist the professional staff. Accountable for the quality/reliability of assigned tasks in assisting in the delivery of patient care consistent with established nursing practice and the Corvallis Clinic Surgical Center Policies and Procedures. Principal Responsibilities: l. Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Handbook. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within. 2. Prepares set-ups, materials, and equipment for cases as needed and assists gastroenterologist in all types of endoscopic procedures. 3. Assists in transportation and preparation of patients including verifying patient identification. 4. Assists in maintaining a safe, aseptic environment for patient care, including equipment and supplies. 5. Enhances continuity of patient care through communication with other departments regarding patient condition. 6. Maintains adequate par level of supplies. Education/Licensure/Experience: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Current CPR certification. Knowledge and Skills: l. Knowledge of technical requirements for most endoscopy procedures gained by a minimum of one year experience assisting in endoscopy. 2. Knowledge of patient care and aseptic technique. 3. Ability to work compatibly with physicians, patients and other staff. 4. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and cope with the hazards of a busy, fast paced work environment.
