The Grounds Maintenance Worker II is tasked with providing skilled landscape and grounds maintenance support for approximately 40 acres of--UHDS--properties on the Oregon State University Corvallis Campus, ensuring they are presentable and safe for students, staff and the general public. This position is supervised by the Landscape Coordinator. This position works with Landscape Coordinator to design, install, repair and troubleshoot irrigation systems, as well as maintaining and repairing equipment. Lead responsibilities include training, scheduling, assigning, and reviewing work of student, seasonal, and temporary employees. The Grounds Maintenance Worker II has daily in-person and telephone contact with staff, faculty, students, and visitors to answer questions, give directions, discuss landscaping or grounds problems, and give assistance. They have regular contact with vendors when ordering supplies; with repair personnel when requesting service on equipment; and with other trades people when assisting during special events or emergencies. CLOSING DATE 10-28-2018 Position Duties Grounds Maintenance-- Mows and edges lawns and fields with use of push and riding lawnmowers, tractors, and power edgers.-- Landscape and Irrigation Design ---Works with Landscape Coordinator to plan landscape work and implement designs. Equipment Maintenance ---Performs routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment. Lead Responsibilities ---Work with Landscape Coordinator to plan workload of student employees, as well as seasonal and temporary employees.-- Pest Management ---Work with other--UHDS--staff and vendors to provide pest management for--UHDS--buildings. Minimum Qualifications Pesticide applicator's license;--AND --- Two years of experience as a grounds keeper which included plant care; OR --- An Associate's degree in Landscape Technology or Horticulture; OR --- Completion of a Landscape Certification program or license in a horticultural specialty..
