Save Education - Bachelor's Degree Skills - Cataloging - Integrated Library System - Ellucian - Customer Service - Microsoft Office This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Library Technician 3 position for the Libraries and Press at Oregon State University (OSU). As a member of the Resource Acquisitions and Sharing (RAS) department, the Library Technician 3 (LT3) is responsible for taking, placing, tracking, and receiving orders submitted by patrons. The incumbent will work with vendors to acquire library resources in various formats (I.e., print. etc.) and ress terms of use questions. A high-level of customer service is expected, such as responding to all requests within 24 hours and working with other units to ensure content is accessible to patrons. They are responsible for placing order using various vendor systems (example here), balancing expenditures, and working with stakeholders (such as vendors, administration and accounting depts.), and ressing problems with the appropriate company or department. The LT3 must be able to demonstrate a high-level of attention to detail as they are responsible for maintaining accurate holdings and financial records. They will also be expected to cross-train, participate and/or lead projects, and provide support to Library colleagues. As a member of Oregon State University Libraries and Press, the employee in this position must be sensitive to the needs of an inclusive and diverse community at Oregon State University. The incumbent will be expected to fulfill the relevant duties in support of the University's core values in promoting a welcoming, respectful and accessible environment while engaging with members of both the University and the Oregon State University Libraries and Press communities (OSULP). Position Duties 45% Ordering, receiving, and customer service: The LT3 is responsible for performing all phases of the ordering and receiving process, (e.g. ordering, paying, receiving, and invoicing). The incumbent will be responsible for using OSULP's purchase card or requesting payment from business center. Timing and accuracy are important as customers need the information to complete processing, discoverability, and reporting. Purchasing decisions are made according to collection development guidelines. Collaborates and communicates with customers to create and update the Library's ILS records for all purchases. Evaluates licensing lending terms of use for electronic materials. Reviews and monitors consortium, publisher, and vendor announcements for system problems, enhancements, or changes in content that may impact the library. 30% Balancing expenditures and record maintenance: The LT3 is responsible for balancing purchase cards statements and gift fund balances on an ongoing basis for on-demand and year-end reports. Tracking and creating lists of purchased titles made on gift funds using various systems (such as OSU's Foundation system, Banner, and ILS). The LT3 is responsible for reconciling accounts to ensure expenditures are accurate for business center reporting and provide reports to the department head and/or unit manager. 10% E-resources back-up support: The LT3 provides support to e-resources staff. The LT3 will monitor the Inbox and route queries to the appropriate OSULP staff and/or vendors (internal and external). The LT3 will be responsible for communicating internally and externally, and working on other e-resources duties as assigned. They will be responsible for assisting with linking and activating electronic records, updating license terms and conditions, and other relevant information into the ILS. 10% Departmental expectations: As a member of the OSU Libraries and Press, they are required to attend meetings and actively participate in committees, task forces, and/or work on special projects. The LT3 is expected to maintain their Outlook calendar, honor appointments, and communicate in a professional manner with all stakeholders. The LT3 is encouraged to evaluate Acquisition trends and potential professional development opportunities. The LT3 would stay in communication with unit and department stakeholders as appropriate. The LT3 is expected to make independent decisions and/or collaborate with others. They are expected to develop resolutions to problems and update or write procedures. 5% Collection Development: Responds to requests from Collection Development to investigate content, pricing models, and terms of use for resources under consideration. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree plus two years of current (within 5 years) experience in a Library; OR 4 years of current library experience. AND Advanced proficiency in multiple library specific computer applications, e.g., integrated library systems, database applications, institutional repository; content management systems. Some positions may also require in-depth knowledge of specialty area(s), e.g., original cataloging, complex copy cataloging, serials management, ILL management, government documents, image resources, music. itional Required Qualifications - Minimum one-year experience, within the last three years, purchasing materials for an organization (e.g., supplies, print and electronic resources, DVD, etc.) As described in the Duties section under Ordering, receiving, and customer service. - Minimum of one-year experience, within the last four years, using financial databases to balance department expenditures for purchases, renewals and credits. - Two-years of customer service experience. - Personal commitment to supporting diversity, equity and inclusion. - Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. - A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU STANDARD *********** et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have itional Criminal History Checks every 24 months. Preferred (Special) Qualifications - Minimum of two-years' experience using OCLC, Primo and Alma ILS to create and manage Alma records. - Hands-on experience of Microsoft Suite and/or document sharing suites (i.e. Google Suite, Box, etc.) - Experience working in a consortium library. - One-year of experience directing, training and reviewing of student workers' responsibilities. - Experience leading projects. Working Conditions / Work Schedule The LT3 will work 40 hours a week (Monday to Friday) between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position is deemed essential and the incumbent may be expected to report to work during inclement weather, emergency and other University work curtailments or closures.
